Grand Lake Stream

Grand Lake Stream

This tiny community, on Grand Lake Stream at the south end of West Grand Lake, was one of the largest tannery centers in the world in the late 1800s. Today it's renowned for fishing, especially for land-locked salmon and smallmouth bass. It's also known for the Grand Laker, a square-end wood canoe built specifically for use on the often windy lakes in this region. Along the Canadian border, outdoors lovers will find lakes and rivers for swimming, boating, and fishing; trails for hiking; and plenty of places to spot wildlife.
