Pier 77 Restaurant & the Ramp Bar & Grille Review

The view takes center stage at this dual establishment. On the ground level, Pier 77 is the fine-dining portion with large windows overlooking the harbor. Every seat has a nice view at the restaurant, which serves up sophisticated fare, focusing on meats and seafood. The place is vibrant with live music in summer and a great place for cocktails on the water. Tucked down below, the tiny, tiny but oh-so-funky-and-fun Ramp pays homage to a really good burger, fried seafood, and other pub-style choices.

    Pier 77 Restaurant & the Ramp Bar & Grille Review

    We've eaten at Pier 77 3 times now and have always had a great experience. First time was for a celebratory lunch in December (despite what the info here at Fodors says, the restaurant was open during the Christmas Prelude). The food and service were excellent and enjoyed by everyone, including two teenage daughters. Next meal was Easter dinner and it was just terrific. White table cloths and Easter eggs hidden about the restaurant and the piano player was a nice touch. We had really nice service, friendly but not overly so and attentive every step of the way. My roasted wild cod was cooked perfectly.

    Most recently it was just my husband and I on a Saturday night. Again the food was terrific - had the wild cod again and though it was accompanied with different side dishes it was still cooked just perfectly and I loved it. As a New Englander, I've eaten my fair share of fish and there is nothing worse than badly cooked fish - Pier 77's is great. My husband steak was also really nicely done -cooked just as he asked for it. Service again was spot on - friendly, polite and attentive.

    Only complaint is that the piano player can be a bit loud. As much as I appreciate live music, it did make it hard to converse. I wouldn't describe the atmosphere as very casual - more upscale casual. The Ramp downstairs is decidely more casual.

    Pier 77 Restaurant & the Ramp Bar & Grille Review

    Fabulous fried "string onions" with smokey ketchup - truly unique and a generous portion. Lobster roll was nothing special. Nice atmosphere; very casual.
