Fodor's Review

Of all the mansions in Kennebunkport's historic district that have been converted to inns, the 1814 Captain Lord Mansion is the stateliest and most sumptuously appointed. Distinctive architecture, including a three-story elliptical staircase, gas fireplaces in all guest rooms, and near-museum-quality accoutrements make for a formal but not stuffy setting. Eight rooms have whirlpool or jetted tubs; the extravagant three-room suite has two fireplaces, a double whirlpool, an entertainment system, and a king-size canopy bed. Day-spa services are available for added luxury. A neighboring 1807 house with four guest rooms is also part of the inn.
