Pemaquid Point Light

Pemaquid Point Light Review

At the terminus of Route 130, this lighthouse looks as though it sprouted from the ragged, tilted chunk of granite that it commands. The former keeper's cottage is now the Fishermen's Museum, which displays historic photographs, scale models, and artifacts that explore commercial fishing in Maine. Also here are the original fog bell and bell house built in 1897 for the two original Shipman engines. Pemaquid Art Gallery, on-site, mounts exhibitions by area artists in July and August, and admission, once you have paid your fee to be on the lighthouse property, is free. Restrooms, picnic tables, and barbecue grills are all available on-site. Next door is the Sea Gull Shop, with a dining room, gift shop, and ice-cream parlor. The museum on-site is adjacent to the lighthouse.
