Black Point Inn

Fodor's Review:

Toward the tip of the peninsula that juts into the ocean at Prouts Neck stands this stylish, tastefully updated historic resort with spectacular views up and down the coast. The extensive grounds contain beaches, trails, and sports facilities—including use of the tennis courts and golf course at the nearby country club. Finer touches abound, such as nightly turndown service and in-room terry robes. The Cliff Walk, a pebbled path that wanders past Winslow Homer's former studio, runs along the Atlantic headlands that Homer often painted. The inn is 12 mi south of Portland and about 10 mi north of Old Orchard Beach. Pros: Stunning water views, set amid scenery that inspired Winslow Homer. Con: Driving required to get to area attractions
