Inn at Tanglewood Hall

Fodor's Review:

The inn's artfully painted floors, lush wallpapers and meticulous attention to detail are the fruits of a former designation as a designers' showcase home. This 1880s Victorian "cottage," as these mansions were humbly called back in the day, is a haven of elegance and comfort, set back among trees and stunning perennial gardens. Rooms are individually decorated though all share decadently rich coloring and fabrics, high ceilings, and many large windows; some have fireplaces. Pros: Elegant and authentic historic lodging, serene setting amid gardens and grand trees, short walk to beaches and nature trails. Cons: No water views, most rooms located on upper floors (no elevator).
