Inside this white Federal-style farmhouse you'll find a French-inspired country retreat. The inn's bucolic location, which is only five minutes by car from busy Camden, guarantees quiet, and it is a short walk from beautiful Lake Megunticook. Simple, airy rooms open to decks with views of the rolling countryside. Four have fireplaces. The restaurant ($$-$$$), open to the public for dinner, serves entrées such as rack of lamb and breast of pheasant with foie gras mousse. All rooms are nonsmoking. Pros: This is a nationally renowned establishment, with one of the best restaurants in Maine. Con: If you want to do some shopping in Camden, you'll have to drive.

Dusty. Worn. Tired. Fake plants in the room.

This charming bed & breakfast is a jewel box in down east Maine. The rooms very charming and quite comfortable. The food in the restaurant is exquisite. I have been going there for many years and it just improves with age. The owners Mary Ann and Manuel are the most gracious hosts and make you feel right at home. Certainly worth the short drive form Camden
