When to Go

High season starts in the middle of May and goes until mid-October. Crowds are a little thinner just after the public schools open in early September and just before they close in mid-June. Though many residents enjoy the long cold winters, most visitors avoid them. The Camden Snow Bowl, with its 11 downhill ski trails, is one of the few attractions to entice visitors in the wintery months. Many of the motels, bed-and-breakfasts, restaurants, and other businesses along U.S. 1 close for winter.
