Flying Cloud

Fodor's Review:

Each room here is named for a legendary port of call made by the Flying Cloud, a clipper ship that was christened in 1851. The main house elegantly combines the original 1790 Cape Cod-style house with an 1840 Greek Revival-style addition. There are water views of the Damariscotta River from every room and from the outdoor deck. The sumptuous full breakfast is a great way to start the day. You can enjoy it indoors or on a screen porch looking out on the owners' lovely gardens. Many area attractions are close by, including hiking trails at the Great Salt Bay Preserve. Wi-Fi access is available in the library. Pros: Peaceful. Cons: no elevator.
