The smell of the salt air greets you at this charming B&B on Lookout Point. The inn was originally the old cookhouse at Look Shipyard, where schooners and brigs were built around the time of the Civil War. Rooms are furnished with antiques, and many have fireplaces and balconies with a view of the sunset over Middle Bay. You can enjoy acres of oak-shaded lawns on the knoll overlooking the ocean. Ask the owners about their list of walking and hiking suggestions. The facility also rents out four cottages for $950-$1,400 a week. Pet are allowed in cottages; kids are best accommodated in suites or cottages. Pros: Spectacular view, a large property to explore. Con: Not many shops or restaurants are within walking distance.
