Though owned by acclaimed chef and owner Michael Gagné—whose 72 -layer cream-cheese biscuits are shipped all over the country—this 1855 Greek Revival-style meetinghouse serves meals that are primarily made by chef de cuisine Troy Mains. The menu changes daily but always has a variety of seafood, vegetables, and dairy products purchased locally. You might begin with the lobster and crab cakes, then move on to grilled fillet of beef stuffed with crab or the confit of duck. Finish up with the signature Obsession in Three Chocolates. The wine list offers an array of choices to accompany Mains's creations. The service is excellent. The dining room evokes its meetinghouse past with cream-color walls, pine floorboards, and cherry Shaker-style chairs. Crisp linens add an elegant touch.

The combination of venue (an old, refurbished church), ambience (clean, white tablecloths, cherry chairs, interesting artwork) and the glorious food is astounding, especially in northern Maine. Congratulations to owner Michael Gagne and his team for bringing this wondrous fare to those of us lucky enough to visit.
