Montpelier

Fodor's Review:

Built in 1930, Montpelier is a replica of the late-18th-century mansion of Major General Henry Knox, a commander in the Revolutionary War and secretary of war in George Washington's cabinet. Antiques, including many Knox family possessions, fill the interior. Architectural appointments include an oval room and a double staircase. Groups should call ahead to reserve space on the half-hourly tours.

  • Cost: $6
  • Open: Memorial Day-Columbus Day, Tues.-Sat. 10-4
