Fodor's Review:

The General Joshua L. Chamberlain Museum displays memorabilia and documents the life of Maine's most celebrated Civil War hero. The general, who played an instrumental role in the Union Army's victory at Gettysburg, was elected governor in 1867. From 1871 to 1883 he served as president of Bowdoin College. Across the street, on the edge of the Bowdoin College campus, a statue stands in his memory.

  • Cost: $5
  • Open: Late May-mid-Oct., Tues.-Sat. 10-4
