Glowing (albeit ersatz) fireplaces, period antiques, exposed beams, and hardwood floors covered with Oriental rugs create an elegant and comforting atmosphere in each of the four candlelit dining rooms in this renovated Cape Cod-style house. You might begin with a salad of mixed greens, sliced beets, and pears with blue cheese crumbled on top. For your entrée, choose from among dishes such as medallions of beef and goat cheese with shoelace potatoes, or pork tenderloin with sweet cherries in a port-wine reduction. The specials and fresh fish dishes are superb, as are the crab cakes. Be sure to save room for a dessert, such as lemon mousse or wonderfully creamy cheesecake. A take-out lunch menu is available at the adjacent Moveable Feasts deli, where the Vinery serves drinks and tapas in the evening.
