Fodor's Review:

As you approach the village of Castine, you'll notice a large sign on the right side of the road that reads: british canal 1779. Just before the sign, turn right and follow the road to the Back Shore. This large pebble beach is a favorite local hangout. It's the perfect place to enjoy a picnic by the ocean.
