Buses, which are equipped with racks for bicycles, service the major campgrounds, Acadia National Park, and Trenton's Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport. They also run from Bar Harbor to Ellsworth. Concord Trailways operates shuttle service from Bangor International Airport to Bar Harbor, with stops along the way in Bangor and Ellsworth. Concord Trailways also operates a twice-daily coastal bus service from Bangor to Boston. Vermont Transit runs between Bangor and Bar Harbor. If the bus isn't delayed by traffic, it takes about an hour. Downeast Transportation operates buses from Ellsworth to various locations on Mount Desert Island. Greyhound Bus Lines services Bangor. West's Coastal Connection is a public bus operated by the Maine Department of Transportation. You can take the bus from the Bangor International Airport to Ellsworth, where you can transfer to another bus to the island.
