This resort is perched on the top of a hill overlooking Frenchman Bay. Most of the guest rooms have excellent views, and all of them have gas fireplaces. After touring Acadia National Park, you can relax in the hotel's hot tub or steam room, or swim a few laps in the indoor or outdoor pool. Fine dining is provided at the Rose Garden restaurant ($$$$), which features seafood and beef entrées on the three-course prix fixe and five-course tasting menus. To start, try the strudel filled with asparagus or the Maine lobster bisque. For the main entrée, order North Atlantic salmon, Maine lobster, rack of lamb, or the pan-seared venison steak. Finally, choose from desserts such as a warm apple tart, vanilla-bean crème brûlée, or flourless chocolate cake. Pros: Spectacular views of the bay and outer islands, wonderful on-site dining. Con: A bit of a hike to town (you'll probably want to drive).
