Abbe Museum

Fodor's Review:

This is the only museum devoted solely to Maine's American Indian heritage, with a collection of artifacts spanning thousands of years. Open since 2001, the museum has permanent and changing exhibitions. A good time to visit this museum would be during the annual Native American Festival, at the nearby College of the Atlantic (Route 3) the first week in July. (Note: Don't confuse this museum with the one in Acadia National Park.)

  • Cost: $5
  • Open: Mid-May-mid-Oct., daily 9-5
