This bar is a Cajun Country institution, and is hopping on Saturday from about 9 am until about 2 pm—or for as long as the Cajun band jams and dancers crowd the tiny dance floor. A regular radio broadcast (on KVPI 1050 AM) captures the event. Drive north from Eunice on Route 13 to reach the tiny town of Mamou.
Downtown galleries are open and the streets are hopping during this popular event, held on the second Saturday of each month.
The town of Plaisance, on the outskirts of Opelousas, holds this event in a bean field on the Saturday before Labor Day. A parade, accordion contest, and zydeco breakfast are all part of the festivities.
