Fodor's Expert Review Catahoula's
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This stylish yet simple restaurant serves dishes that integrate French classics, Louisiana favorites, and Mediterranean influences. Locally made Creole cream cheese and caramelized onions fill the flaky, buttery tarte à l'oignon, for instance, while grilled fish, eggplant medallions, and crab cake are stacked for a seafood napoleon—which is then topped with fried oysters and a Chardonnay-and-Tabasco cream sauce. The spare decor inside this renovated former dry-goods store highlights artistic representations of the Catahoula Hound, Louisiana's state dog.
