Uptown
Pristine oak-lined streets, colorful residential homes, and diverse restaurants and shops are what make Uptown such a fun, relaxing neighborhood to explore. Stately mansions line the length of St. Charles Avenue, where you'll find colorful Mardi Gras beads hanging from tree limbs and telephone wires throughout the year. Wander the side streets between St. Charles and Magazine Street and you'll find that smaller shotgun and Victorian-style homes maintain the same old-world charm. In recent years Magazine Street has becoming a bustling shopping strip filled with 6 miles of shops, bars, and restaurants all the way from the CBD up to Audubon Park. Nearby Prytania Street is also home to several restaurants and the iconic Prytania movie theater. Built in 1915, the theater is the oldest running in New Orleans.
