Gallier House Review

Irish-born architect James Gallier had a hand in Jackson Square's Pontalba apartments, the stately Gallier Hall on St. Charles Avenue, and this home, where he lived with his family. Built in 1857, the well-preserved French Quarter gem contains an excellent collection of early Victorian furnishings. During the holiday season, the entire house is filled with Christmas decorations. Gallier died in 1866 when a hurricane sank the paddle-steamer on which he was riding.
