Drago's Review

Since 1969 the Cvitanovich family restaurant has been a fixture in Metairie, just a short drive from downtown New Orleans, so when it was revealed the family would open a second location inside the Hilton Riverside hotel, locals started salivating and the word quickly spread. The charbroiled oysters are the absolute must-order. After that you can branch out to authentic Italian pasta dishes, Maine lobster, and fried seafood entrées. Families love the place—especially because of the kids' menu—and the warm apple cobbler is the sweet stuff legends are made of.

Charbroiled oysters are a MUST - everything else is just average.

Took the family here tonight - as recommended, ordered a dozen charbroiled oysters. To die for. So good, even the 15 and 13 year old were inhaing them (had to order a second dozen). The rest of dinner ranged from very good to just average. Hubby had the Chicken Romano (or chicken dry-mano, as he called it). I had the Surf and Turf - which lacked seasoning, but was cooked perfectly (not my favorite trade-off, but I can't deny the skill of the chef). Daughter (13) had the paneed pork cutlets, which she enjoyed (and I thought the flavor was very good, as well). Son (15) had the BBQ drumfish which comes with a shrimp and crab topping. He really liked it at first, then discovered it had all the bones in it, which tempered his enthusiasm. For dessert, we split the apple cobbler (not my thing, but definitely a keeper among the rest of them) and an order of creme brulee...which came covered with whipped cream on top!! Who does this???? I give it 2 out of 5 stars -- just skip it, unless you're a nut for any old custard. Next time, I'll just order a third dozen oysters as an entree and add a salad. They were so good, I have to recommend the place even if everything else had tasted like cardboard. Go for the oysters, the other stuff isn't bad, but it's nowhere in the same league. Also, bar drinks were priced average, and were ok -- only bottled beer, though. The oysters definitely are a must have!
