New Orleans Restaurants

Clancy's

Updated 04/09/2014

Fodor's Review

Understatement defines the mood at locally beloved Clancy's, and the classy but neutral decor reflects this, though the scene can get lively. The small bar is usually filled with regulars who know one another—and tourists who wish they were regulars. Most of the dishes are imaginative treatments of New Orleans favorites. Some specialties, like the seasonal smoked soft-shell crab, are exceptional. Other signs of an inventive chef are the expertly fried oysters matched

with warm Brie, and a peppermint-ice cream pie. On more festive nights you may yearn for earplugs. The expansive wine list has many New World and French options, with many bottles available for under $100.

Uptown Baby!

Some of the most terrific food in all of New Orleans. Way off the beaten track but well worth the trip. Don't let the appearance fool you, this is a top notch restaurant. The shrimp remoulade was especially tasty as was the soft shell crab. There was not one thing on the menu i didn't want to try. I hope to return here on my next visit to NO.

Best Meal Ever in New Orleans

I'm originally from the New Orleans area and I've eaten out hundreds of times in the city and surrounding areas. This was simply the best food I've had in Lousiana. Great stuff.

What's your frequency Kenneth?

Kenneth must have spent too much time out in the suburbs or is very callow. Clancy's very much is a Creole restaurant, and although it is not located in the Garden district, it is in Uptown New Orleans.
