Lavish breakfasts are what first put Brennan's on the map, and they're still a big draw, although fews locals can stomach the current prices. In the luxuriously appointed dining rooms at this gorgeous 1795 building, the best seats include views of the lush courtyard and fountain. Eye-opening cocktails flow freely at breakfast, followed by dishes like poached eggs with hollandaise, creamed spinach, artichoke bottoms, and Canadian bacon; all are listed with suggested wines.
Headliners at lunch and dinner include textbook versions of oysters Rockefeller and seafood gumbo, and bananas Foster, which was created here. Chef Lazone Randolph has been creating culinary delights in Brennan's kitchen for more than 45 years.
