Though reopened to the public, the botanical garden suffered severe damage to much of its indigenous flora due to Hurricane Katrina floodwaters and related loss of electricity, which killed most of the garden's collection of containerized plants. Still, you can stroll the peaceful 10-acre garden and its tropical conservatory and enjoy statuary by noted local artist Enrique Alferez. In the Train Garden, open on the weekends, baguette-sized cars roll through a miniature New Orleans village.
