Fodor's Review

Celebrity-chef John Besh has dazzled the culinary world with his prowess on the plate and his Southern-boy charm, making his restaurant inside the National World War II Museum worth visiting—even if you skip the exhibits. The menu slants Southern with filling comfort food like meatballs and pasta topped with Creole tomato sauce and a pork chop smothered with boudin dirty rice and cracklings. This is also a fun spot for kids: the efficient staff wear period garb and children's meals are served in lunch boxes. Accompany your meal with a seasonal milk shake or, if you're of age, a well-made retro cocktail like a Pink Squirrel or Singapore Sling.
