Fodor's Review

Since an influx of Vietnamese immigrants to the area in the 1970s, the banh mi sandwich has become as much a part of the local cuisine as the po'boy. Serving arguably the best Vietnamese food in the area, Tan Dinh is a 15-minute drive from downtown New Orleans, but a world away in flavor. Curry goat stew, roasted quail with sticky-rice cakes, steamed flour cakes topped with dried shrimp, and jellyfish salad are among the more exotic menu items. Spring rolls, noodle soups,

and sandwiches, all equally good, might be safer bets for Vietnamese newcomers. With cherrywood chairs and faux-marble tabletops, the restaurant exhibits a convincing polish.
