Fodor's Expert Review Mariza

$$ Bywater Italian

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

New Orleanians need no further evidence of the Bywater's gentrification: behold Mariza, the invention of chef Ian Schnoebelen and general manager Laurie Casebonne (of former restaurant Iris in the French Quarter). This eatery has it all: charm, comfort, and serious Italian eats at affordable prices, from burrata to salumi. House-cured meats, homemade pastas, and excellent pizzas round out the list of menu attractions, and the exposed brick walls and high ceilings make for an airy, comfortable dining experience. The restuarant hosts an traditional Italian apertivo, with half off wine and free snacks, from 3-6 pm daily.
