Bastions of real character in the otherwise corporate CBD, these guest rooms have hardwood floors, oversize windows, and high ceilings, and are furnished with four-poster iron beds, armoires, and local jazz prints. Exposed-brick walls and ceiling fans add to the ambience of the pre–Civil War building. This is a good alternative to the huge convention hotels; you're just steps from the major downtown attractions and the Convention Center, and Harrah's New Orleans Casino is a five-minute walk.
