Lions Inn
2517 Chartres St., New Orleans, Louisiana, 70117, USA, New Orleans, Louisiana, USAWhy We Like It
Friendly hosts here help you feel right at home in the Marigny, a neighborhood we love. It's a beautiful, quiet area of colorful shotguns, begonvilla and tropical plants, and, once you figure out the maze of small streets, a really convenient location to the French Quarter and Bywater neighborhoods. Within blocks of this B&B, discover cute neighborhood shops and restaurants, as well as the hip nightlife areas of St. Claude Avenue and Frenchmen Street.
Fodor's Expert Review
On a quiet street in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, this home-away-from-home offers several types of guest rooms, a relaxing garden and pool area, and an extended continental breakfast.
You Should Know This is a getaway on a small private property with plenty of antiques, and not the place to bring along small children.

Room
Rooms vary, from a basic queen, to a spacious loft, to a ground floor studio with a full kitchen. The sun room (sleeps two) is paneled by stain glass windows and opens out onto the patio. Most rooms have queen beds with four-poster or wrought iron frames. Room decor is homey and not overly kitschy.
Bathroom
Rooms have private attached bathrooms or shared hallway bathrooms, with bathtub/shower combinations or walk-in showers.
Tip Be sure to request a room with a private bathroom if this is important to you. (Though if the inn is not at occupancy, you're likely to get a shared bathroom to yourself anyway).
Lobby
Public spaces at this home include a comfortable library, breakfast room (open each morning), patio, front porch, and back garden area.
Pool
The bean-shaped pool is surrounded by lush vegetation and tropical plants. There is also a hot tub that fits about eight people.
Dining
Hosts serve an extended continental breakfast each morning from 8 to 10:30 am. Includes varied, filling options and fresh fruit.
Drinking
Innkeepers host a wine and cheese happy hour most evenings at this property, offering a nice way to meet other guests and take a moment to relax in the beautiful back garden.

Getting Around
Driving is not as bad here as in the Quarter, though streets are narrow and parking can still be tight. There's a new streetcar on St. Claude Avenue (9-minute walk) that will take you to the French Quarter, and connect you to other streetcar lines on Canal Street to travel to farther neighborhoods.
Restaurants
On the corner of Spain and Chartres you'll find Cake Cafe & Bakery (1-minute walk), a local favorite for brunch, with fresh baked goods. Bao and Noodle (2-minute walk) serves delicious hand-pulled noodle bowls and other casual South East Asian delicacies.
