Hotel Le Marais

717 Conti St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70130, USA

Cameron Todd

This small hotel is well maintained and comfortable, with modern furnishes and amenities. Both the heated saltwater pool and lobby cocktail bar help guests unwind after a day touring the surrounding French Quarter.

room

Bedding and mattresses are comfortable here. Rooms (and windows) aren't particularly large, but they face into the courtyard and are pleasantly quiet for being so close to the action.

bathroom

Enjoy big modern showers and granite floors in every bathroom.

lobby

The lobby and courtyard have couches and tables set up into pleasant lounge areas.

pool

The heated saltwater pool is small, more of a large Jacuzzi, surrounded by a brick courtyard and lounge areas.

The pool closes at 10 p.m.

gym

The gym has a few cardio machines and free weight equipment.

dining

Breakfast is prompt and well stocked, albeit typical for a hotel buffet. It's a fine option for fueling up for your day.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The breakfast room is small and becomes very crowded during busy times.

drinking

Guests are greeted with a complimentary cocktail at the Vive! Lounge. Plush furniture, ultraviolet lighting, and doors opening out onto the pool and courtyard make it a good space to have a nightcap or bring a large party.

LOCATION

Getting Around

Valet parking is $36/night, and it's not convenient to have a car in the Quarter in general. It's a quick walk to Canal Street to catch the streetcar to the Garden District, Uptown, or Mid City.

Restaurants

Book a table at Restaurant R'Evolution (2-minute walk) for an elegant, one-of-a-kind meal. For a casual lunch, stop for a sandwich or salad at Green Goddess (3-minute walk), or stop for a gourmet sandwich from Killer Po' Boys (4-minute walk).

Bars

Napoleon House (4-minute walk) serves classic cocktails with old school French Quarter charm. Don't miss the chance to try a famous frozen Irish Coffee from Erin Rose (1-minute walk), and a French 75 from Arnaud's classic location (2-minute walk).

WHY WE LIKE IT

It's nice to find a small boutique hotel with such modern amenities and swift, reliable service. This is a good choice for those wanting in on the action, with a cocktail lounge and courtyard where they can continue the party, but still enjoy quiet rooms for a good night's sleep.
