Room
Divinely comfortable beds, soaring ceilings, and rebuffed antique furniture. Little touches like the musical instruments hanging above the bed make this hotel seriously photogenic.
You Should Know The building's layout is original, and room shapes and sizes differ depending on their location within the hotel. Book a “Royal” room if you want to enjoy the street-facing balcony.
Bathroom
Austere but stylish, with updated appliances and Beekman 1802 toiletries. Waffle robes hang in the antique armoire. Most rooms do not have a bathtub.

“The Parlor” is where you’ll check in, receive your complimentary glass of wine, chat with the friendly staff, and read about Henry Howard, Louisiana’s renowned architect, who designed the mansion in 1867.

In lieu of traditional room service, the hotel provides a bedside list of UberEATS recommendations. The list includes a special discount code for hotel guests, and staff favorites from each restaurant.

The hotel is on a quiet Garden District street just one block off of St. Charles (where you’ll catch the streetcar, or the parades during Mardi Gras season).
Restaurants
It’s an 8-minute walk to Magazine Street’s shops and restaurants (great sandwiches and treats from District Donuts Sliders and Brew or Stien’s Deli for lunch, delicious hummus and Isreali food at Shaya, or La Petite Grocery for a fantastic splurge dinner). It’s also a 10-minute walk to OC Haley Boulevard for great tacos and atmosphere at Casa Borrega, sophisticated Southern at Toups South, and carnivore specials at Primitivo.
Bars
On OC Haley (10-minute walk), check out an indie move at the Zietgiest Theater or tour The Southern Food and Beverage Museum. Directly behind the Henry Howard, you'll find the Eiffel Society, a bar, nightclub, and dramatically constructed building made from original Eiffel Tower scrap metal. A few blocks away (6-minute walk), Half Moon is a great local dive.
