Fodor's Review

Some of the antiques-filled rooms open to a gorgeous sundeck and others have balconies overlooking the courtyard's saltwater pool, and the attractions in the Quarter and the CBD are nearby. The pool and proximity to the aquarium and other family-friendly attractions make this a good choice for travelers with kids in tow.

Review 2014

Since all the listed reviews for this hotel are from previous years, hopefully mine will be more current and helpful. My travel partner and I stayed at the Bienville 10/11 thru 10/15/14. The hotel is nicely decorated and conveniently located in the quarter. However, the housekeeping services leave much to be desired: (1) we had to ask, repeatedly, for wash cloths and towels every day. One day I started asking at 12:30 pm and finally demanded them

at 8:30 pm. Just plain ridiculous; (2) our beds were made just one day of our stay. We were out of our room by 7:30 each morning and the housekeeper was seen on our floor, but no services. The complimentary breakfast was meager at best. Front end staff was polite and helpful. Although the courtyard and swimming pool were pleasant to sit in and enjoy, the pool has no handrail with which to enter or exit the pool. I felt this was dangerous. This, the housekeeping services and the breakfast could use some attention. Sadly, I would not stay here again.

Gun-toting staff made me worried for my safety!

I stayed in the Bienville House Hotel just before JazzFest started. The first morning I was there a staff member walked into my room at 7am without even knocking. After saying "I didn't know anyone was in this room", she sent another staff member and a gun-toting security guard to my room to question me. Even after I showed them my proof that it I had paid for the room they followed me as I left the hotel for the day to volunteer at Habitat For

Humanity. I became concerned my personal safety and found a new hotel. I stay in hotels about 50 nights a year and I've never had such a horrible experience with stadd

Great Location and Value

We stayed for 5 nights last fall. The room was large, staff pleasant, and location would be hard to beat. Mid-week rates are competitive with anyone. Planning to return this fall.
