Safety

Exercise the same caution here that you would in any major city. The French Quarter close to the river is busy day and night, and there is safety in numbers. Farther from the river and closer to Rampart Street, crowds thin, and opportunities for theft grow slightly higher. It's advisable to use extra caution at the outer edges of the French Quarter.
