Monroe's Café-Grill

Monroe's Café-Grill Review

Cut-outs of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Dorothy and the Wicked Witch festoon this vegetarian-friendly diner that's cheerfully decked out with bright tables and chairs, counter stools and a community table that's perfect for solo diners or anyone who enjoys sharing a meal with new companions. For nearly 25 years, best friends Katie Casie and Heather Barton have run their business here, both of them always on hand and happy to tweak dishes to accommodate diners with special diets. Herbs come straight from their own garden, veggies are local whenever possible, and dishes are made from scratch like the hollandaise on the eggs Benedict and the custard that caps the French toast.

  • Chicago and Where Else

We've never been to Chicago other than changing planes.

We'd like to go for a few days but that's a lot of flying to spend 3-4 days in one place.

    Any add-ons in the area?

    Thanks. Read more
