Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown Review

The suites here seem custom-designed for families, with sleeper sofas, separate bedrooms, and fully equipped kitchens with full-sized refrigerators and granite countertops. Free food isn't lacking; there's a complimentary breakfast buffet seven days a week, and an evening reception with drinks and a light meal Monday through Thursday (there's also a fitness center to work off those calories). Within walking distance of the Magnificent Mile shopping area, it's just a short cab ride away from most other attractions.

    Great location with spacious room

We chose this hotel because of its location and the fact that for our five night stay, we would be in a suite instead of just a hotel room. We had a problem coming in and the hotel sent a bellman who came to my rescue to get my luggage from the subway to the hotel.

Our room was well-appointed with a bathroom off of the bedroom The bath had a separate dressing area and lav/bathtub. The toiletries provided were quite nice and replenished everyday.

The bed was quite comfortable and the provided breakfast was hot and more than adequate to keep us going. We only took advantage of one of the free dinners and it was okay only because it was not the type of food we like. However, others seemed to be quite pleased with it.

The front desk in general was incredibly helpful with our needs in finding attractions around the city.

The only drawback I might have given was that we were on a very low floor and our view was not super, but we weren't in the room too much so we were fine with it.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a spacious room with a wonderfully central location just one block to the Red Line and easy walking distance to many attractions like the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park and the museum area.

  • Chicago and Where Else

We've never been to Chicago other than changing planes.

We'd like to go for a few days but that's a lot of flying to spend 3-4 days in one place.

    Any add-ons in the area?

    Thanks. Read more
