Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse

Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse Review

Chicago movers and shakers mingle with conventioneers at Gibsons, a lively, homegrown, Gold Coast steak house renowned for overwhelming portions, good service, and celebrity spotting. Generous prime steaks and chops center the menu, but there are plenty of fish options, including planked whitefish and massive Australian lobster tails. One dessert (like the gargantuan slice of carrot cake) will feed a table of four.

Gibsons is old school!!! As soon as you put a foot inside the door, you feel like you've been transported back to the 1940's or 50's. It has the feeling of many big deals having gone down during a forget the two, try three martini lunch. The steaks are big, the martinis strong and who cares??? Nobody was counting calories back then. Of course if you are, you can always just order a salad but guess what? That's going to be on the fat side too.

We went here for our 10th anniversay dinner. This restaurant was recommended by many people, and rightfully so. The service and the food was outstanding. The dessert is enough for 8 to 10 people. We had a glass of wine, beer, salad, steak and dessert for $110. It was pricey but well worth it. The desserts are a great value considering how much you get.
