This old-school steak house thrives on the buddy network of high-powered regulars who pop into the historic River North joint to carve up massive steaks, good chops, and the famed "garbage salad"—a kitchen-sink creation of greens with vegetables and meats. Service can be brusque if you're not connected, but the vibe is Chicago to the core.

the smell of animal fat and garlic surrounds thr whole block. this is an "in place: which means you get great service if you are a known customer or they like you. it is definitely worth a visit to check out the cottage fries and sit at the bar to chat. it is unique and not a chain restaurant. good choice for people who like traditional food and entertainment.
