Crofton on Wells

Crofton on Wells Review

We like this place because it's really good and still manages to be rather low-key. Chef-owner Suzy Crofton breaks a few contemporary-dining rules: she doesn't pack tables too closely together in the small space, and she keeps the noise level down. Her food is similarly short on clichés but gratifyingly long on flavor. Dig into spicy herb- and chipotle-roasted chicken with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and smoky molasses au jus, or grilled venison with braised cabbage and chestnut mascarpone. But the menu is not meat-centric: with at least a couple of vegetarian entrées on the menu each night (any of which can be made vegan), consider this a place to bring non-meat-eating friends.
