The University of Chicago dominates the physical and cultural landscape of Hyde Park and South Kenwood, and it's visually arresting. Much of the original campus was designed by Henry Ives Cobb. Especially of note is the International House and the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, which has a carillon with 72 bells; a university carillonneur gives regular performances. The university's stately Gothic-style quadrangles look like something straight out of Cambridge and Oxford.
