Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Fodor's Review:

Walk among hundreds of Midwest species of butterflies and learn about the impact of rivers and lakes on daily life at this modern museum washed in natural light. Like Chicago's other science museums, it's geared to kids, with educational computer games to play and water turbines to control. But even jaded adults will be excited when bright yellow butterflies land on their shoulders. The idea is to study nature inside without forgetting graceful Lincoln Park outside.

  • Cost: $7, free Thurs.
  • Open: Weekdays 9-4:30, weekends 10-5
