Also known as the Railway Exchange Building, this structure was designed in 1904 by Daniel Burnham, who later moved his office here. The santa fe sign on its roof was put up early in the 20th century by the Santa Fe Railroad, one of several railroads that had offices here when Chicago was the rail center of the country. The fantastic ArchiCenter of the Chicago Architecture Foundation (312/922-3432. www.architecture.org. Tues.-Sun. 9:30-4) occupies this historic space.
