Fodor's Review:

The folks behind the wildly successful Mia Francesca next door run Platiyo, another Wrigleyville hit, this time for Mexican food. Colorful artwork, Mexican tiles, and piñatalike sculptures conjure a fiesta-ready setting for marlin ceviche, carne asada (marinated strip steak), and double-cut pork chops in pineapple mole. A selection of tacos and enchiladas placate Tex-Mex fans.

DO NOT CHOOSE TO GO TO PLATIYO

Posted by DaninChicago from Chicago on 6/6/07
Platiyo used to be a very fun, good restaurant owned by Mia Francesca. That was two years ago. We went for the first time post-sale, and it is just absolutely horrendous. We were there for 2 hours, during which time they managed to (1) screw up every single drink order, (2) take our order, (3) bring us the saltiest guacamole that anyone had ever had (and don't get me wrong -- I love salt!), and (4) an hour and a half in, bring us the soup that some of us had ordered -- it was actually boiling (full boil!!!). We left because we still hadn't gotten entrees. The kickers: (1) we were the only people in the restaurant (so it's not at all like the kitchen got slammed; literally, one other table was occupied), and (2) the waiter acted as if this happened every single day (which it probably does) and offered no explanation or apology. We were all simply stunned. The only thing that I can think of is that they intend to go out of business very shortly. There are many wonderful Mexican restaurants in Chicago -- from very inexpensive ones to very expensive ones. This is not one of them.
