Julius Meinl Café

Julius Meinl Café Review

Viennese coffee roaster Julius Meinl operates this very European café in an unexpected location at the intersection of Addison and Southport, just a few blocks from Wrigley Field. Comfortable banquettes and a supply of international newspapers entice coffee sippers to stick around, and vegetable focaccia and pear-and-Brie sandwiches, hazelnut-and-blue-cheese salads, Frittaten (Austrian beef broth with crepe noodles), and loads of European pastries feed the peckish. The Austrian breakfast of soft-boiled egg, ham, and Emmentaler cheese is a gem. Classical and jazz combos entertain on Friday and Saturday.
