Japonais

Fodor's Review:

Style and substance come together at sleek and chic Japonais. Don't be intimidated by the lengthy menu. Trust servers to direct you to savories such as breaded oysters, sweet-vinegar-seaweed salad, and a raft of winning maki-roll combinations including octopus with spicy tuna. Traditional tables are supplemented by a couch-filled lounge also serving the entire menu. Downstairs an indoor-outdoor bar provides seasonal seating along the Chicago River—don't attempt it on weekends unless you have sharp elbows.
