Chicago Restaurants

Japonais Review

Style and substance come together at sleek, chic Japonais. If the lengthy menu looks intimidating, you should feel free to trust the servers to direct you to savories such as lobster spring rolls, sweet-vinegar-seaweed salad, and a raft of winning maki-roll combinations including octopus with spicy tuna. A traditional seating area with tables is supplemented by a couch-filled lounge, where you can also order from the entire menu, and the indoor-outdoor bar downstairs has seasonal seating along the Chicago River—the latter, not surprisingly, gets super-crowded on weekends.
