At the east end of Molokai, near mile marker 25, lie these three ocean-view accommodations, on 14,000 isolated acres of pastures and forest. This is a remote and serene location for people who want to get away or meet in a retreat atmosphere. One country cottage has two bedrooms, basic wicker furnishings, and lau hala (natural fiber) woven matting on the floors. An airy four-bedroom cottage has a small deck and a somewhat Balinese air. For large groups—family reunions, for example—the Ranch has a lodge with 11 rooms, 9 bathrooms, and a large kitchen. The full lodge goes for $1,250 nightly (rooms are not available on an individual basis). Pros: ideal for large groups; authentic working organic ranch; great hiking. Cons: on remote east end of island; rooms in the main lodge cannot be individually rented; road to property is narrow and winding.
