Molokai Fish and Dive is the only PADI-certified purveyor of scuba gear, training, and dive trips on Molokai. Shoreline access for divers is extremely limited, even nonexistent in winter. Boat diving is the way to go. Without guidance, visiting divers can easily find themselves in risky situations with wicked currents. Proper guidance, though, opens an undersea world rarely seen.
Molokai Fish and Dive. Owners Tim and Susan Forsberg can fill you in on how to find dive sites, rent you the gear, or hook you up with one of their PADI-certified dive guides to take you to the island's best underwater spots. Their 32-foot dive boat, the Ama Lua, is certified for 18 passengers and can take eight divers and gear. Two tank dives lasting about five hours cost $155 with gear, $135 if you bring your own. They know the best blue holes and underwater-cave systems, and they can take you swimming with hammerhead sharks. 61 Ala Malama St., Kaunakakai, 96748. 808/553-5926. molokaifishanddive.com.
