Paia Inn Hotel

Fodor's Review:

Built in 1927 as a boarding house when Paia was a bustling plantation town, this building was completely renovated and reopened as an inn in 2008. Set right in the heart of Paia on busy Hana Highway, it is amazingly quiet inside the lobby and guest rooms. The rooms are air-conditioned and each has a phone, flat-screen television, iPod clock/radio, and fully stocked minibar. All have private bathrooms with travertine tile and salon-quality amenities. Guests enter through a pleasant courtyard to the lobby; the guest rooms are up a set of stairs on the second floor. Also on the second floor is a lounge where complimentary coffee and tea, along with muffins and scones, are served daily. For guests desiring room service, a coffeehouse across the street will deliver. Access to secluded and sandy Paia Bay is along a pathway between two private residences behind the inn. Pros: friendly and knowledgeable staff; no minimum-night stay required; guests receive a complimentary membership at Upcountry Fitness in Haiku. Cons: no elevator; guest rooms are extraordinarily small and have no closets.
