Luana Kai Resort

The website does a great job of showing pictures and listing amenities specific to each unit, rather than providing generic information (though they do have the option to exchange the unit you booked for one of equal value). These very affordable accommodations include shuffleboard, putting green, and a nice library.
Fodor's Expert Review
If you don't need everything to be totally modern, consider setting up house at this great value condominium-by-the-sea with individually owned units offered in two categories: standard and deluxe. Furnishings and appliances in the standard units are more dated, and it's worth paying the few extra bucks for the updated deluxe units. Each comes with everything you need to make yourself at home: a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher; washer/dryer; TV and DVD player; Wi-Fi; and stereo equipment. There are three different room plans suited to couples, families, or friends traveling together. The third-floor two-bedroom units have high ceilings and a master-bedroom loft. Make sure to request a unit with air-conditioning—a must for hot, dry Kihei. The heated pool and deck is a social place, with five gas grills, a full outdoor kitchen, and a shuffleboard court. Luana Kai adjoins a grassy county park with tennis courts, and the beach is just across this grass.
Tip There are no elevators at these three-story condos, so be sure to book a bottom floor if you have mobility issues.

Getting Around
It’s easy (and preferable) to explore Maui’s smaller towns by foot, but to get to them and around the island, you’ll need to rent a car. If you plan on exploring the Road to Hana, get something with a little extra horsepower (but not too big as the road can get very narrow).
Restaurants
Find fresh, vibrant food at Fork and Salad (2-min drive), featuring signature, as well as build-your-own salads, grain bowls, and sandwiches made with a wide variety of mostly local and organic ingredients. These healthy options make a great choice to pick up for a beach picnic or day of hiking.
Find casual, beachy fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Beach Bums (17-min drive), where Hawaiian meets American in the form of omelettes, sandwiches, and burgers. Their kiawe/guava wood smoked BBQ dinners make for a special treat.
